Why it works: the spines flare in the water like a creature in a defensive posture — a crawfish curling up, a threatened craw or goby. Bass hit it on instinct, not preference. It shines on pressured water where the usual stuff gets ignored.
How to fish it:
- Ned / finesse jig head — light head, slow drag and deadstick on bottom.
- Nail weight — push a nail weight into the body for extra casting distance and a faster fall while keeping the natural, weightless look.
- Drop shot — light hook, 6"–18" leader, vertical in deeper water.
- Texas rig — small wide-gap hook, 1/16–1/8 oz weight around cover.
- Jig trailer — pinned on a small jig for a bulked-up craw profile.
