HOOKJAW Baits — The Viral Urchin Bait, Made in Peoria IL
HOOKJAW is the newest thing to come out of the Brockett shop — and it isn't metal.
It's a fishing tackle brand founded and run by Benjamin Brockett, out of Peoria, Illinois. A father-son operation: Dad builds exhausts at Brockett Built, Benjamin builds the bait business — he picks the colors, packs every bag, and field-tests every Jawbreaker himself.
The Jawbreaker — the urchin bait that's going viral
Urchin-style baits are blowing up on the tournament scene and all over social, and the Jawbreaker is HOOKJAW's take: a dense 1" soft-plastic ball bristling with full-length spines — 4" of total spine spread, a big flaring profile from a compact bait. In the water those spines flare like a creature in a defensive posture — a crawfish curling up, a threatened goby. Bass hit it on instinct, not preference, which is exactly why it produces on pressured lakes where every standard bait has already been thrown.
Four colors: White Pearl, Moss Monster, Swamp Craw, and Dirty Gill. Every bag is packed by hand with a single Jawbreaker.
$15 each — or 2 for $25, applied automatically at checkout.
How to fish it
- Ned / finesse jig head — light head, slow drag and deadstick on bottom.
- Nail weight — push a nail weight into the body for extra casting distance and a faster fall while keeping the natural, weightless look.
- Drop shot — light hook, 6"–18" leader, vertical in deeper water.
- Texas rig — small wide-gap hook, light weight around cover.
- Jig trailer — pinned on a small jig for a bulked-up craw profile.
Proof it works
