Lexus GX470 Exhaust Upgrade Guide: Headers, Y-Pipe, Catback and the P0420 Fix
Lexus GX470 Exhaust Upgrade Guide
The 4.7L 2UZ-FE in the Lexus GX470 and 4th Gen Toyota 4Runner V8 responds well to a freer-flowing exhaust: more usable torque, a deeper tone, and better underbody clearance. Here is how the pieces fit together, from the head all the way back, so you can build it in the right order.
1. Headers
The foundation. Our 4.7L 2UZ-FE Mid-Length Headers replace the restrictive factory manifolds with TIG-welded 304 stainless for real torque and horsepower gains. Fits VVT-i and non-VVT-i.
2. Y-Pipe
The GX470 Y-Pipe connects the headers to the rest of the system. Choose the resonated version for a balanced tone, or a catalytic converter option. It bolts to stock or aftermarket headers.
3. Catback or Muffler Dump
Finish it with the Modular Catback System (over-axle dump, stock location, or side exit) or a simple Muffler Dump Pipe for a deeper tone and better clearance.
The P0420 Fix
Running headers or a catless setup will usually trip a P0420 or P0430 check engine code. The fix is our 90° O2 Sensor Spacer. The V8 needs one per bank. Off-road use only.
Finish: Coatings
Protect the raw stainless and keep it looking new with a coating: high-gloss ZyClear clear coat to keep the bare metal look, or a colored Cerakote finish.
Off-Road Use Notice
Catless and SAIS-delete configurations are intended for off-road, competition, and racing use only, not for use on emissions-controlled vehicles operated on public roads. The buyer is responsible for compliance with all applicable laws.
Everything is TIG-welded 304 stainless, built to order by Brockett Built in central Illinois.
