Exhaust Tips Buying Guide: Stainless vs Titanium, Sizing, and Cut Styles
Brockett Built hand-builds exhaust tips in two materials: 304 stainless steel and CP1 grade titanium. Both are welded and finished in the USA, both slip on with a clamp, and both come in straight or slash cuts with optional inserts. This guide walks through the choices so you order the right tip the first time.
Stainless or titanium?
304 stainless is corrosion resistant and heat tolerant, and it is our standard for daily-driven trucks and cars. It holds a clean, show-quality finish and stands up to diesel duty.
CP1 titanium is lighter and holds heat color, so it takes on the gold, blue, and multicolor burn that titanium is known for. Pick it for weight and looks.
If you are not sure, go stainless for a daily driver or a work truck and titanium for a build where the look of the tip matters. Full comparison: stainless vs titanium exhaust tips.
How to size an exhaust tip
Every tip has two measurements: the inlet (the end that slips over your tailpipe) and the outlet (the visible end). Match the inlet to your tailpipe and pick the outlet for the look you want.
- Stainless tips: inlets of 2.36in, 2.5in, 2.75in, 3in, 4in, and 5in, with outlets of 3in, 3.5in, 4in, 5in, and 6in.
- Titanium tips: inlets of 2in, 2.5in, 2.75in, and 3in, with outlets of 3in, 3.5in, 4in, and 5in.
Stainless tips can be built in any size from 1.5in up to 6in, so if your combination is not listed, add a note at checkout or reach out and we will build it. Include the overall length you want in the order notes. Step by step: how to measure exhaust tip size.
Cut styles and inserts
- Straight cut: the outlet is squared off to the tube.
- Slash cut: the outlet is cut on an angle.
- Inserts: add a honeycomb insert or a middle finger insert for a bold finishing touch, or leave the tip open with no insert.

Titanium finishes
Burnt titanium tips are offered in Raw, Gold, and Blurple finishes at the same price. Choose the finish on the product page when you order.
Diesel trucks
Stainless tips go up to a 6in outlet with 4in and 5in inlets. See diesel exhaust tips.
Installation
Both tips use a slip-fit design with a heavy-duty clamp, so installation is simple and secure with no welding required.
